It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Russell Torrence, who left us on Monday, October 13, 2025 at the age of 62 one day before his 63rd birthday. A hardworking and devoted man, Russell retired after a long and proud career in the construction industry. He was a dedicated member of Local 633, where he earned the respect of his peers for his skill, work ethic, and integrity. Russell will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, son, and brother. His warmth, loyalty, and quiet strength were felt by everyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roger and Charlotte (Wells) Torrence, Sr; siblings, Demetria Torrence, twin brothers, Roderick and Roger, Jr.; father-in-law, Louis Mike; brothers in-law, Kenneth and Louis Mike, Jr.; sister in-law, Valerie Torrence.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Frederika Torrence; children, Sidney Torrence and Trevor Lawrence; grandchildren, Ceasar, Roman, and Adonis; Godson, Jeremiah Scott; Goddaughters, Tiffany Taylor and Tyreeka Thomas; siblings, Deborah (Jamal) Bogor, Robert (Margel) Torrence, Dicel Banks, Dinel Torrence, Diane Torrence, Dawn (Sepp) Herbert, Romel (Cynthia) Torrence, Ramon (Nati) Torrence, Denise Torrence, Raethon (Artresa DeLee) Torrence, and Deidre (Antonio) Andrews; mother in-law, Mary Mike; sister in-law, Laverne Torrence; sisters in-law and brothers in-law, Debra Boddie, Diane (Motrey) Mike, Richard (Lawanda) Mike, Wayne (Peggy) Mike, and Derrick Mike; a host of nieces, nephews, close cousins, and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 24th, from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 149 Beattie Street, Syracuse. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12 p.m.
