Russell Daniel Watts, age 70, of Clayton, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
Born on January 20, 1955, in Rabun County, he was a son of the late Claude and Edna Nations Watts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Watts and sister, Mary Watts Anglin.
A lifelong resident of Rabun County, Russell was of the Baptist faith. He loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing, hunting, or simply enjoying life. Russell was known for his friendly personality and enjoyed spending time socializing and hanging out at 5 Points Grocery with a red Solo Cup in hand.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel Watts (Amanda) and Toby Darnell; daughter and son-in-law, Misty Shook (Donny); grandchildren: Kenan Watts (Vada), Rosanna Gallagher (Jeremy), Devin Shook (Madison), Jayden Shook (Gracie), Keaton, Colten, Addison, and Carolyn Shook, Carly, Natalie, and Nathan Darnell; great-grandchildren: Kessiah Watts, Zebariah Watts, Everlee Gallagher, Vivian Gallagher, Paxton Shackleford, and two additional Shook babies on the way; brother, James Watts; and sisters, Jean Browning and Virginia Nichols (J.V.).
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Hunter Funeral Home.
