Ruth Anderson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parker & Son Funeral Home - Lodi on Jun. 12, 2025.
Ruth Irene Anderson (nee Tanner) passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025 in Medina Hospital. A lifelong resident of Lodi, she was 96 years old.

Born in Wadsworth in 1928 to Donald Durbin Tanner and Clara Elizabeth Tanner (nee Cole), Ruth attended Mt. Union College in Alliance and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1968 from Ashland College (now Ashland University). She married Edgar Allen Anderson, who had served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II. They had three sons.

Ruth taught 5th and 6th grades in the Cloverleaf School system for over 20 years. After retirement, she tutored students who needed extra help. She was a member of the Lodi United Methodist Church for over 70 years, serving in the United Methodist Women and singing in the choir. She was a member of the Lodi Literary Club and the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution. She volunteered as a Gray Lady at Lodi Hospital, and was a founding member of Lodi's oldest bridge club. She was an Elections Officer for many years.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Ralph Tanner; and her son, Ralph Anderson. She is survived by her beloved sons, Jeffrey Anderson (Beth) of Bradenton, Florida; David (Sylvia) Anderson of Medina; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her affectionate great-granddog, "Beane" and great-grandcat, "Mikey".

A memorial service will be held at Lodi United Methodist Church, 320 Medina Street, Lodi, at 4 o'clock on Sunday, June 22. The family will receive friends starting at 3 o'clock at the church, and a light supper will be served in the Fellowship Hall after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Lodi United Methodist Church or Burbank Parke skilled nursing facility.
