Ruth Brell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farber & Otteman Funeral Homes - Sac City on Sep. 18, 2025.
Ruth Brell, age 85 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Ruth Mae Dierenfeld was born on December 2, 1939, to parents William and Helen (Olsen) Dierenfeld. She grew up on the family farm and attended grade school as well as high school in Sac City.

Ruth was united in marriage to James "Jim" Brell in Sac City. This union was blessed with three sons, Bill and Kevin, as well as Jason, whom died in infancy. The couple resided in Sac City where Ruth worked early on as clerical staff for the ASCS office and later, for many years at Marjo's Flowers and Garden Center.

In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed gardening and caring for the lawn. She enjoyed travelling especially to Branson, MO. Ruth obtained her pilot's license and was the first female pilot to complete a solo flight from the Sac City Municipal Airport. After retirement, Ruth enjoyed shopping, managing her farmland, and was always sure to listen to the daily crop prices on the radio.

Most of all Ruth enjoyed her Sunday visits with her boys and grandkids. Time spent with them was always a great joy for her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son: Bill (Carolyn) Brell of Linn Creek, MO; daughter-in-law: Julie Brell of Camdenton, MO; grandchildren: Brent (Rachel) Brell, Brandon (Tisha) Brell, Brian (Nikkie) Brell, Sydney Brell (Adam Valdez), and Cody Brell; great-grandchildren: Emily, Jake and Mason, Brittany, Brenden and Brooklyn, Joshten, Serenity, Ella and Jaxson, Nova and Joseph; great-great grandchild: Jacqueline; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Jim Brell; her parents: William and Helen Dierenfeld; son Kevin; infant son Jason; siblings: Glenn Dierenfeld, Elaine Hubler, William Dierenfeld Jr., Franklin Dierenfeld, and Donald Dierenfeld.
