Ruth Ann (Roberts) Bundy
Ruth Ann Roberts, 63, Manhattan, was born to Robert and LaQuita Roberts on July 29, 1962, at the Morris County Hospital in Council Grove, KS. She had four siblings: Kay, Raye, Bobby, and Chuck.
She embraced her Lord Jesus in her new heavenly home on August 9, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan after a short battle with an aggressive lung cancer.
Ruth Ann attended White City schools and graduated from high school there in 1980. After graduating, she worked at Neosho Construction Company, Charlene's, and the Council Grove Republican, before attending Manhattan Vocational-Technical School where she learned medical transcription. She worked numerous places in Manhattan, including Peterson Lab, Lafene Student Health on the KSU campus for 22 years, and six years for Konza Dental.
While attending vo-tech school, she met Michael Bundy, whom she married on May 22, 1987. They recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. She was the proud mother of two daughters: Jacqueline Jacie and Kirsten Micah. Her family was her pride and joy. She shared her daughters happiness when they married their husbands, Matt and Colt.
She was a member of the Parkerville Baptist Church and later of the Life Connection Baptist Church of Ogden.
She was preceded in death by her parents: LaQuita and Bob; her brother, Bobby; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, JJ and Alice Bundy, and her brother-in-law, Wayne; her grandparents, Fred and Ruth Roberts and Alfred and Anna Holm; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Ruth loved to host Christmas and other family events and was a wonderful cook and baker. Her cakes were of professional quality, and she loved making them and learning decorating techniques. Many people over the years benefitted from her love for baking. She had quite a reputation for the many dishes she took to church dinners or to friends in need.
She was an "includer." She might not know someone but if she found out they did not have a place to go or needed a meal, they would get an invitation from her. She provided many meals for people when times were financially tough for her family as well.
The testament of her love for others and her sparkling personality was evident in the continual parade of visitors in her final days on this Earth. Ruth loved dogs and always wanted to own dozens of them or foster dogs. She had a special love for Dachshunds and Border Collies.
Ruth is survived by her husband Michael; her daughters Jacqueline (Matthew) Kiger, and Kirsten (Colt) Baty; her granddaughter MacKenzie Baty; her sisters, Kay Roberts and Raye Roberts; her brother Chuck (Susanne) Roberts and niece Linnea; her sister-in-law, Robin Roberts; nephews, Marcus (Kendra) Hernandez; Michael (Jamie) Roberts; Aimee Roberts; and a great niece, Meredith Roberts.
Although the family is filled with grief, her siblings find some amusement in the thought that their mother and father will once again be separating Ruth and Bobby in Heaven because they always caused trouble in church as children when they sat together!
Visitation will be from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m., Thursday, August 14, at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday, August 15, at Life Connection Baptist Church in Ogden. Graveside service will follow one hour (approximately 12:30 p.m.) after the funeral at Sunnyslope Cemetery in Council Grove. (No processional because of safety concerns.) Lunch will follow at First Baptist Church in Council Grove.
Memorials in Ruth's name can be made to Purple Power Animal Welfare Society at purple-paws.org, Life Connection Baptist Church, or to the Good Shepherd Hospice House. Contributions may be sent in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
