On October 22, 2025, Ruth Bush, 91, of
Mystic, CT was promoted to heaven where her love for music and her beautiful voice will be added to the heavenly choir.
Ruth was born on September 11, 1934, in New Haven, CT, to William Douglas MacLeman and Ruby Mae Vincent.
Ruth grew up in Hamden, CT. She attended Hamden High, where she joined the school's Glee club, became a member of the Pep Club and was a very energetic cheerleader. Her high school yearbook describes her as "The leader of the fun, and the life and soul of the company."
A description that rang true throughout Ruth's lifetime.
Ruth married Sherwood MacDonald Frost shortly after graduating High School. They were married before an audience of over two-million viewers on John Nelson's "Bride and Groom television show. They resided in the New Haven/North Haven areas of CT. Sherwood became an ordained minister. Ruth used her love for music and her training from the "The New England Conservatory of Music" within the church setting to direct both a teenage and adult choir. She sang as a soloist for church services and other venues. Ruth produced a record entitled "Sacred Songs," using the donations from the album towards the building fund for the church. While raising her family and actively serving the church community, Ruth continued to work outside the home. She was a valued employee with each of the various companies she worked for. She was an instructor/trainer and course developer with SNET and directed the company's "Telso Glee Club" in their performances at Woolsey Hall. Ruth often spoke of her appreciation for the Dale Carnegie courses that led her to become a dynamic speaker and eventually an Instructor for Calvin Walker and Associates.
Ruth's love for learning and for people inspired her to further her education by taking courses in Psychology, Writing and Business at Southern Connecticut State College, Goddard College, and Middlesex College.
Ruth married John E. Bush in 1978 and eventually settled in Guilford, CT. They were active and beloved members of the community and within the local church where Ruth continued to use her talents in teaching, mentoring, and singing. Ruth began a new career path as Marketing Director for various retirement/assisted-living communities in CT and "The Osborne" in Rye, New York. She was best known for her compassion in being an advocate for the residents.
Ruth lived her life with determination, humor, and grace. What Ruth was most known for in every avenue of her life was her sincere love for people and desire to help them. She lived a life according to her deep faith in God and true to the Hebrew meaning of her name "loyal friend ".
She exemplified loyalty, devotion, kindness, humility, and industriousness. She was an encourager to many and a listening ear to all. Her wisdom and counsel over the years have helped many a lost soul or broken heart find their way. She will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
