Ruth Carrier Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Directors on Feb. 20, 2022.
Ruth Martha Carrier of Mount Dora, Florida passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the age of 96. She was born in Trenton, New Jersey. This amazing woman A true depression baby, she became a "Rosie the Riveter" at the age of 17 when her fiancé, James Louis Carrier, went to war for four years. When he returned home, they were married on September 3, 1948. She raised her family simply with an abundance of love and polish cooking, stressing education and integrity in her boys. Always an exerciser, she rode her bike until she turned 80, zip-lined through the jungles of Costa Rica at 79 and helped walk the dogs and care for her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Nancy's family for the 18 years she lived with them. Always humble, always helpful, always talking of God's hand on her life. Ruth Carrier is with Jesus tonight. Her influence on those she loved made them better people. That is her legacy.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband James on February 14, 2001 after 52 years of marriage. She was also preceded by her sisters, Bertha Carr and Dorothy Harrison. Ruth is remembered and will be dearly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Nancy Carrier of Eustis, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Nancy Carrier of Mount Dora; grandchildren, Benjamin Leslie (Ximena) Carrier of Lake Mary, Florida, James Wesley "Wes" (Kelsey) Carrier of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Jessica (Jason) Seiler of Hewitt, Texas, Beth (Sean) Lee of Centennial, Colorado, and Kimberly Carrier of Longmont, Colorado; and great grandchildren, Thomas, Gus, Livy and Max.
Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
