Ruth Elsie Coder, age 103, concluded a remarkable life and went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Ruth was born on November 8, 1921, in Racine, Wisconsin, to the late George and Borghilde (Helgesen) Hostad. Ruth was united in marriage to Jay Edward Coder, Sr. in Racine on June 27, 1942.
Ruth was a long-time member of Calvary Memorial Church in Racine, and First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was active in children's work and the Women's Missionary Union. She was dedicated to her Christian faith and to her family.
For the last eleven years of her life, Ruth lived at The Woods Senior Care in Griffin, Georgia, where she had many wonderful friends among the staff and residents. She enjoyed worship services, Bible studies, music programs, and recreation activities, especially Bingo.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her two sons, Reverend Jay Edward Coder, Jr. (Carol) and John Charles Coder; grandchildren, Reverend Jon Coder (Tiffany), Amanda Coder Durski (Tim), and Catherine Coder; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Coder and Jayden Coder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Coder; sisters, Alfrieda Janot, Borghilde Ruilmann, Mildred Bell, Ingrid Haas, Dorothy Trieber; and her brother, Edwin Hostad.
A memorial service to celebrate Ruth's life and legacy will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Rest in peace, dear Ruth. Your love, kindness, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who knew you.
