RUTH TATUM COOK

COOK, Ruth Tatum, 88, went home peacefully on March 24, 2013 to be with our God and her many relatives who preceded her. Ruth was one of three daughters of the late Dwight and Verna Tatum, and the widow of Vernon R. Cook. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, V. Stuart Cook (Barbara); daughters, Janet Holmes, Vicki Trice (Bill) and Teri Robertson (David); 14 grandchildren, Chris Cook, Bryan Cook, Kimberly Farnsworth, Jon Hudson, Jennifer Williams, Shannon Wilson, Stacy Oswald, Dwight Robertson, Peyton Tanner, Jared Robertson, Ruthie Robertson, Ethan Trice , Emma Trice and "little Andrew Robertson," who preceded her in death; and 17 great-grandchildren. Ruth retired from A. H. Robins after many years of service. Ruth was always there for anyone who needed her assistance or advice. While never one to interfere, she was quick with her opinion when asked and was one who always wanted to be the "caregiver and not the receiver!" In her last hours, her only complaint was that she could not do for herself and had to depend on her family, especially Janet, Vicki, Teri and Barbara, who were more than happy to help her. Our mom, grandmother and great-grandmother will be missed by all of our family and the many, many more who knew her for the kind, gentle and hard working lady she was. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., Mechanicsville, Va.
