Myers Funeral Home - Tellico PlainsRuth Lucille Crane, age 94, of Tellico Plains, formally of Monticello, IN and Fort Myers, FL passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest (Ernie) Crane; son, David Crane; granddaughter, Amy Crane; sister and brother-in-law Doris and Jack Meents; and parents, Miney and Ethel Rieken.
Ruth was described by her family and friends as being (fluffy) meaning a bit boujee, if you saw her out then you definitely saw all her bling and sparkle. Ruth dedicated many years at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Myers, Florida as an administrative secretary and dispatcher. She had many interests including fast cars, a love for all animals and bird watching. Being in her East Tennessee home, near the mountains and nature brought her great joy these past several years. Her family gave her so much happiness and was her greatest joy. Ruth’s spunkiness and jolly personality will be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved her the most.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Crane Sohmer; grandchildren, Caitlin and Derek Sohmer; and great-grandchildren, Ella Mae Sohmer; former son-in-law, Eric Sohmer; nieces, Doreen Erb and Donna Diener; and special friend, Sharon Knebel.
A graveside service will be held at I.O.O.F Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Monroe County Animals Shelter at 130 Kefauver Lane, Madisonville, TN 37354.
