Published by Legacy on Jul. 11, 2025.
Ruth Dalton, long time resident of North Hampton, NH passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025 at Brookdale Spruce Wood Nursing Home in Durham, NH. She was 90 years old.

Ruth was predeceased by Kelvin Dalton, her husband of 64 years and her daughter, Heather Elam. Surviving family members include her son, Timothy, her daughter, Noreen Rushlow and her sister Shirley Larkin as well as several grandchildren; Camille Deschenes, Trent Elam, Nicole Rushlow, Jessica Rushlow, Daniel Dalton, and Justin Matis and a great granddaughter, Dylan MacPhail.

Ruth met and married Kelvin in 1956 while attending Plymouth State College where she went on to earn her degree in Elementary Education in 1957. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother and put all her efforts into maintaining a loving home and marriage. While her three children were young she often substitute taught in area schools and sang in the choir of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton, NH.

Ruth was also a devout Christian and lived her life in service to God and her family. When her own children were grown she taught kindergarten for a private school in Hampton-Hampton Christian Academy, sharing her love of God with her students. She also volunteered for The Salvation Army, sponsored children overseas, and supported several charities. She was an active member in the churches she attended, always helping those in need.

While Ruth enjoyed singing for the church choir, she also enjoyed singing show tune songs, patriotic songs, and songs from Broadway plays. She had a beautiful voice and when she was younger performed in a variety of talent shows, some of them with her husband, Kelvin. She was also a talented tap dancer.

In addition to singing and volunteering Ruth liked to spend her time bird watching, attending Bible studies and prayer meetings, going to yard sales and thrift shops (where she always found amazing bargains and donated many of her own items), reading, spending time with family and friends and sharing adventures with her husband.

Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Her giving heart, sense of humor, and compassion will be missed by those whose lives she touched.
