Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Marie Eaves will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Calcasieu Baptist Church, Union Hill, with Reverend John Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Union Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Eaves, 73, of Union Hill, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 4, 2024, in her residence.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Ruth loved animals, especially her cows, horses, and dogs. She had a servant's heart, and you never left her home without a cup of coffee and a meal. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow, and she enjoyed cooking. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Everette and Eva Johnson; one daughter, Candace Ray; one stepdaughter, Dennine Sparks; one brother, Ray Johnson; and one great grandson, Krosby Garrison.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her loving husband of forty-nine years, Ivy Dewayne Eaves of Union Hill; one son, Keith Ray (Natalie) of West Lake; one daughter, Misty Eaves of Union Hill; one stepson, Stuart Eaves of Hineston; eight grandchildren, Devin Ray, Candace Garrison, Kayla Ray, Lily Biddle, Joseph Reed, Izabella Henson, Nikki Renfro, and Ryan Dupuy; and six great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at Calcasieu Baptist Church, Union Hill, on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Joseph Reed, Mark Reed, Austin Biddle, David Johnson, Ricky Cloud, and Terry Eaves.
