Ruth Ellison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Damiano Funeral Home on Jan. 30, 2026.
Ruth Katherine (Hancher) Ellison, 93, went to be with her Lord on January 28, 2026. Ruth was born in Jersey City on June 4th, 1932 and later then moved to Long Branch with her family. There, she graduated from Long Branch High School where she met the love of her life, Buddy.

Ruth married Buddy in 1954 and later became a loving mother to three beautiful children. She then worked as a secretary for many years with a plumbing company, Corrigans, and later, she worked with children at Noah's Ark Preschool.

Ruth was also very active in her church. She was one who always exemplified God's love to everyone she met, especially with her big hugs and kisses. She was so very loved and adored by many.

She is survived by her husband, Elias "Buddy," of 71 years; three children - Glen (and Dorothy) Ellison, Karen (and Steve) LeBlanc, Linda (and Mike) Schroeder; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, all of whom she loved so dearly.

She will be missed. But in the arms of Jesus - Ruthie rests.

There will be a celebration of life service at The First Assembly of God Church at 220 Sycamore Avenue, in Shrewsbury, NJ on February 7, 2026 at 3 pm. The service will also be livestreamed at www.youtube.com/@ShrewsburyFirstAssembly

Ruth was such a sweet beautiful lady and it was always a blessing to see her andher husband Buddy praise the Lord together in church. She has a lovely family and it's beautiful to see how much they all love Jesus.
We will miss you Ruth but we know we'll see you again one day as Jesus has promised.
God bless you all.

Ruth was truly a beautiful person. She always had a sweet smile on her face and a joyful laugh too. Ruth and Buddy were a special couple and they were both a great blessing to our church family. When my mom passed away in 2012 Ruth and Buddy, and Linda and Mike came to my mom's wake. Ruth gave my sister a great big hug and afterwards my sister said "that was a real Mommy's hug!" We will surely miss Ruth but we know she is with Jesus and we will see her again one day.

My most favorite memory of Ruth was her correspondence in all the cards she sent to us. She always showed her love of church, family and friends She was truly a servant of God and will be missed by all. Love you Buddy and family. You are all in my heart and prayers. I´m sure you are reminiscing in heaven with Paul.

Ruth was a wonderful woman of God. She was the matriarch of the church...everybody 's mother, aunt' sister, friend. Really, that's how she was- very loving, caring and welcoming! She leaves quite a legacy. She will be missed but well remembered. Love and prayers sent to the family.

"Her children rise up and call her blessed." - Proverbs 31:28

Dear Ruth,
You weren´t just my mother-in-law - you were my example. You showed me what it really means to put God first and family always. You taught me how to be a better wife, a better mother, and a better Christian woman just by how you lived your life. No lectures - just love and consistency.

You were there when I needed you. Always. In the real moments. The hard ones. The messy ones. You showed up.

Your love built this family. Your faith held it together. And now here I am, trying to fill shoes that can´t be filled - just honored.

I´ll carry you with me forever, Ruth. Always.
Until we meet again in Heaven
