Ruth "Luann" Floyd, age 93, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 4:07 AM on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. She was born in Mineral on November 12, 1930, the daughter of Everett and Eliza Ann (Fearnot) Ramsey.
Luann worked many years at General Electric in Linton until her retirement. She was a member of the Linton First United Methodist Church where she participated in the Women's Mission Circle and organized funeral dinners for many years. She belonged to the Furnace Extension Homemakers Club.
Luann enjoyed playing euchre for many years. She cherished her grandchildren and loved to care for children.
She is survived by a daughter, Jane Ann Turpen of Linton; daughter-in-law, Linda Floyd of Linton; five grandchildren, Leslie (Chet) Cooprider, James Darren (Jill) Floyd, Casey (Ric) Niebrugge, Cyndee (Ken) Teater, and Tim Turpen; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Floyd, whom she married Feb. 15, 1947; son, James D. Floyd; a son-in-law, Joe Turpen; and six siblings, Alice Fields, Helen Pershing, Leo Ramsey, Nola King, Erwin Ramsey, Paul Ramsey, and two infant siblings.
Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 5, 2024, with Rev. Ben Biggs officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, February 4, from 2-5 PM, and Monday from 10 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loaves and Fishes, made payable to Linton First United Methodist Church, through the funeral home.
