Ruth Ellen Garrison

Ruth Ellen Garrison passed away on November 25th, 2024 in Claremore at the age of 84. She was born March 11, 1940 in Claremore to Grover and Beulah Chafin.

She was one of ten children born to this wonderful family the Chafin's! As a young girl she along with her siblings helped their dad work the dairy farm. Ruth attended Verdigris schools through the eighth grade and went on to graduate from Claremore High School, after some time she started working in downtown Tulsa at Kresses Department Store. While working there she was introduced to her future husband Odean. Odean and Ruth were married on September 3, 1965 in Verdegris, Oklahoma. After marring they began their lives together in west Tulsa (Garden City). Odean had a passion for racing, but Ruth gave him an ultimatum, either racing or family. Odean gave up his racing (but not his love for fast cars) and they began their family together. Not long after Rocky was born and soon to follow Michael was added to the family and to them their family was complete. In between Rocky and Michael being born a horrific accident happened as they were leaving church that Sunday morning. Odean and Ruth were in the hospital for a long time. Both recovered from their injuries and life went on. Ruth helped in any way she could with the family business.

Odean Garrison trash service from keeping the books (if she could read Oceans hand writing) to getting on the trash truck and throwing the cans or hooking up the containers. Ruth was one that was never afraid to get her hands dirty if she had to.

Ruth's passions were God, family and church and she always kept them in that order. Her pride and joy were her two sons, but when her two grandsons came along there was a new twinkle in her eye. Her goal in life was that everyone she met would see Jesus in her and she accomplished that.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Rocky Garrison and wife Tabitha of Dewar;

Michael Garrison of Tulsa;

Three grandchildren, Tanner Garrison and wife Ashley, Hunter Garrison and wife Ashlyn, and Aubree Garrison. Three great grandchildren, Remington Rose, Murphee Mae, and Everett Dean. One sister in law, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 10:00AM,Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at Freedom Church of God in Christ, 4605 S. Tacoma, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
