Ruth Ann Gondek, age 75, of Taylor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 29, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, to John and Kathleen Johnson.
Ruth is the beloved wife of Gerald "Jerry" Gondek, with whom she shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. She was the devoted mother of Brian (Lisa) Gondek and Michelle (Craig Babjack) McCalister. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of Brenna, Braelyn, Gabriel, Bailey, Julian, the late Jacob (and Puddles). Ruth was the dear sister of Linda Johnson, Jerry (Tammy) Johnson, and the late John (Pat) Johnson. She is survived by many loving family and friends who will deeply miss her warmth and kindness.
Ruth's greatest joy in life was her family. She loved family gatherings, surrounded by her many nieces and nephews, and was a true believer of keeping family traditions alive. She cherished spending time with her sister-in-laws, who were some of her best friends. She created a home filled with laughter and love. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures-watching her favorite shows, enjoying evenings surrounded by family, and bowling every Tuesday with friends. But, above all else, she was immensely proud of her grandchildren and never missed a chance to brag about each of them.
Ruth and Jerry were married for 54 years and enjoyed their quality time together. Whether it was a trip to the casino, playing games side by side, a visit to the metro parks, or taking scenic drives to admire Michigan's beautiful fall colors and its many lighthouses, she loved being by her husband's side.
Ruth will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of Michigan, and her unwavering devotion to her husband and family. Her light, laughter, and spirit will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
No formal services will be held at the funeral home. Arrangements and cremation entrusted to the Taylor Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23750 Goddard Road. (313) 291-1800. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Constance Catholic Church, 21333 Kinyon, Taylor. Please share memories and/or leave condolences on Ruth's guestbook on her tribute wall.
