Ruth Hahs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Charleston Cremation Center and Funeral Home - Charleston on Jan. 15, 2025.
Ruth Ann, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend, was a cherished lady known for her kindness and dedication to her husband, family patients, and friends. She went home to be with God on January 10th, 2025.
Born on March 5th, 1940, in the Township of Jersey, Illinois. Ruth Hahs has three children: Daniel, Janet, and Dennis. She also has five thriving grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She and her husband, Jellybean, shared the sweetest love story--love at first sight. She often recounted, the first time I met him, I told my best friend I was going to marry him. They were married for 63 years before Papa passed away September 2024. Together, they lived a beautiful and fulfilling life, spending their final years in Charleston, South Carolina. They resided in many places, with Florida being their favorite.
Ruth worked as a nurse in numerous locations and was beloved by all. One of her favorite activities was baking cookies for Jimmy's college students, who even honored her with a plaque for being the Best Cookie Maker! Ruth and Jellybean loved to travel in their Minne Winne, exploring North America and visiting family and friends.
She leaves a legacy for her family and friends that emphasizes the importance of pursuing dreams, supporting loved ones, and treating others as one would like to be treated. She embraced life to the fullest, whether through beading, playing cards, coaching swimming, gardening, spending time with family and friends, or baking cookies. She instilled in her children the values of seeking truth, showing kindness, and understanding that they are cherished by their Creator, God Almighty.
A private cremation service will be held in accordance with Ruth's wishes. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Ruth's memory.
