Ruth Ann Hammond

Ruth Ann Hammond, born on November 19, 1948, passed away on January 10, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Vashtie Lowery, her siblings: five brothers, James W. Lowery, Truman Lowery, Lee Arnold Lowery, Willie Lee Lowery, Michael A. Lowery, and three sisters, Freida Lowery Dial, Vondale Lowery Locklear, and Verhonha Lowery Dial.

She is also survived by her ex-husband Ledger Lynn Hammond, two sisters, Kay A. Lowery and Shirley Locklear, her brother-in-law, Ronnie Dial.

Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose life was centered around her deep love for family and those closest to her.

Ruth was the proud mother of six children: James Lowery Jr, Rosie Lynn Hammond, Judas Lynn Hammond, Ledger Lynn Hammond Jr., Tina Renee Hammond Perry, and Joshua Lynn Hammond. She was also blessed with a loving son-in-law, Peter Pan Perry, and a daughter-in-law, Jeannette Bennett. Her legacy continues through her 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and purpose. She was also preceded in death by a beloved great-grandson, River Hammond, who is deeply missed.

Ruth shared a special lifelong friendship with Peggy Locklear, which held a cherished place in her heart.

Ruth will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on through the many generations of loved ones who will continue to honor and cherish her memory.
