Ruth Hoier Obituary
She was born on December 20, 1924 in Moundsville, West Virginia, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Lindsey) Mason.
She attended Moundsville Grade School and graduated from Moundsville High School in 1942. She attended Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1945 and received her Public Health Certification in 1978.
On February 2, 1947 she married Russell Hoier in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2010.
Ruth Ann worked at Calumet Memorial Hospital for many years and at Calumet County Public Health office retiring in 1982.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family. She was a member of the D.A.R. and belonged to the Plymouth chapter during the 1960's.
Survivors include her loving children: John Hoier of Menominee, MI, William (Karen) Hoier of New Holstein, Elizabeth (Mark) Atkinson of Beechwood and Joseph (Sarah) Hoier of Sheboygan. Five grandchildren: Franklin Hoier of Brooklyn, N.Y., Jesse Hoier of Manitowoc, Sarah Atkinson of Plymouth, Adam Atkinson of California and Marissa Kluth of Manitowoc. Six great grandchildren: Griffin and Hudson Kluth, Natalie Schwartz, Layla Pieterick, Adalyn Garrels and Stanley Hoier. Two step grandchildren: Bradley (Kimberly) Hess and Matthew Hess. Three step great-grandchildren: Carter, Callie, and Camden Hess.
Also survived by other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son: David, one granddaughter: Abby, one great grandson: Eli, Grandson-in-law: Mike Kluth and one sister: Ella B. Mason Harler, one brother: John K. (Nancy) Mason and one sister-in-law: Maude Hoier.
Following Ruth's wishes, their will be NO VISITATION OR VIEWING and cremation has taken place. Private family committal services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
A memorial fund is being established in Ruth Ann's name.

Today is a lot darker for me. Aunt Ruth Ann was a love with a world class smile that never stopped. I have lost my last living auntie and favorite pen pal. She was always so interested in how Jeanne and I were and what we were doing. She was a brilliant ray of light in my life and I will always remember her until we meet again. Rest in peace sweetheart!!!

Ruth Ann was my favorite aunt. She was very cheerful, kind, had a good sense of humor and fun to be around. We saw her more when Russell and she lived at Bear Lake. Know she'll be greatly missed. Jan Peterson Pankow
