Ruth E. Hover

Ruth E. Hover, 82 of Pittsfield, passed away August 1, 2025 at Springside Nursing Facility. Born in Westfield, MA on February 8, 1943, she was the daughter of Inez Jones. Ruth was a graduate of Westfield and Cheshire schools. She was a CNA for many years and a mentor to many. She worked at Berkshire Medical Center for many years and also worked for Berkshire Visiting Nurses and BARC. She was loved by everyone. She enjoyed doing puzzles, playing games on her computer, going to tag sales and she loved her dogs and cats. She was a long time Avon Representative. Ruth also loved to dance and loved country music. She was the life of the party. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Conyers and Karen Dinofrio, both of Pittsfield. Two sons, Robert Starbird, Jr., and Ronald Hover both of Pittsfield. Grandchildren, Kristy and Freddie Conyers Jr., Douglas Starbird, Jr., Yvonne, Paul, Karamae, Nicole Starbird, Michael North, Jr., Arianna Hover and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Bonnie Nicola of Pittsfield. Ruth was predeceased by her two sons, Douglas Starbird, Sr., and R.J. Hover, Jr. She also was predeceased by a grandson, Ryan Starbird, Sr., and four brothers, Frederick, Allen, Alfred and David Jones, and sisters, Liz White and Irene Jones. As well as her life time partner, Gary Reid. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. Funeral home services will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by Deacon George Morrell. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the Dementia Society of America in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
