Ruth "Owens" Jackson

Mrs. Ruth Owens Jackson, age 100, of the Big A Mountain section of Honaker, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 27, 2026, at NHC Healthcare in Bristol, VA. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Mrs. Jackson was a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved the Lord, her family, her church, and her community. She was a long-time member and served as treasurer for many years at Bethany Baptist Church. She was also a Charter Member and served as the 1992 Noble Grand of the Countiss Rebekah Lodge No. 31. She also worked at the Radford Arsenal manufacturing ammunition during WWII. Her love of providing for her family was shown through being an avid gardener, canning, cooking, and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Cowan Jackson; her parents, Frank and Ollie Greene Owens; her son in-laws, Lloyd Hart and Peter Burse; seven sisters and five brothers.

Ruth, affectionately known as "Momaw," is survived by her three children, Billie Jean Hart, Gaynell Burse, and Clifford Owens; eight grandchildren, Natalie (Ed) Blevins, Todd (Lisa) Hart, Brad (Becky) Hart, Steven (Susan) Burse, Kevin (Nancy) Burse, Franklin (Hope) Perry, Jason (Elizabeth) Owens, and Jarred Owens ; fifteen great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at NHC Healthcare in Bristol, VA, as well as Diane Urbani, for all the love and care they provided.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 2 p.m. in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Vonley Pruitt officiating. Entombment will follow at Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, VA.

Pallbearers will be Ed Blevins, Todd Hart, Brad Hart, Kevin Burse, Lukas Hart, Aaron Hart, Lee White, and Jeremy Viers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church P.O. Box 532 Honaker, VA 24260.

The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
