Ruth Eleanor Jennison, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, relative, and friend, departed this earthly life on October 17, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on February 17, 1931, in Washington, DC, Ruth's vibrant spirit and unwavering love for her family touched the lives of many throughout her journey.
Ruth's life was a tapestry woven with threads of faith, resilience, and affection. As a devoted homemaker, she embraced her family with warmth and care, creating a nurturing home where love and laughter flourished. Known for her passion for gospel music and her fondness for the color yellow, Ruth brightened every room she entered. Her artistic talents shone through in her love for ceramics and cake decorating as she crafted beauty and sweetness for those around her.
A staunch supporter of her favorite teams, the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Orioles, Ruth exemplified dedication and joy in all her pursuits. She also found camaraderie in her bowling league where her laughter and spirit enriched the lives of her fellow bowlers.
After the passing of her husband in 1986, Ruth embraced a new chapter of independence as a cafeteria lady with PG County Schools. Her infectious smile and gentle presence brought comfort to countless children leaving a lasting impact within the community.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Susan Trivers (Arty), Patricia Daily (Dan) and Nancy Ware, as well as her son, Robert “Bob” Jennison. She was the cherished grandmother of 6, a proud great-grandmother of 20, and a loving great-great-grandmother of 2. She is predeceased by her husband Robert Jennison, parents Benjamin and Clara King, and her sisters Florence Baker, Dorothy Krakosky, and Frances (last name unknown), who together with Ruth, filled the world with memories of love and laughter.
In honor of Ruth’s remarkable life, a funeral service will be held at Calvert Grace Community Church on October 23, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. A public viewing will take place at the church from 10:30 a.m. that same day. Following the service, Ruth will be laid to rest at 2:30 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, MD.
