Ruth Jimenez, 75, of Wharton passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 6, 1950, in Levelland, Texas to the late Manuel and Petra Garcia Villarreal.
Ruth was raised in Haskell and graduated from Haskell High School. She married Gilbert Jimenez on October 14, 1967, in Haskel. Ruth attended Wharton County Junior College and later graduated from the University of Houston. She became a beloved teacher in the Wharton, Bay City, and Faith Academy schools. She was teacher of the year and loved teaching young minds. Ruth played piano, loved nature and being in her yard. Her most precious memories were made with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of the Art Club and the Women’s Missionary Union at her church, First Baptist in Wharton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Gonzales and Bessie Nieto, brothers, Paul Villarreal, Samual Villarreal, Manual Villarreal, and Morris Villarreal.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Gilbert Jimenez, daughters, Corrina Jimenez and Carolina Myers and husband, Richard, sisters, Abigail Salinas, Omega Polanco, brother Leonard Villarreal, and her grandchildren, Cara, Joshua, and Andrew Myers.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, after 5pm at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 10 am at First Baptist Church in Wharton. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Pallbearers will be Luis Enriquez, Evan Enriquez, Mark Jimenez, Nick Jimenez Jr., Leon McBee, and Sergio Villarreal. Please make any donations to Faith Christian Academy here in Wharton.
