Ruth J Johnson

Ruth J. Johnson, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on January 12, 2026. She was born on February 6, 1946, in Edgefield, South Carolina, to the late Mildred Williams-a beloved mother whom Ruth lovingly cared for until her passing.

Ruth was the true definition of strength, dedication, and grace. She never missed a day of work, even when she wasn't feeling her best. She retired after more than 30 years with Citi Bank, where she served as an Assistant Manager, followed by 10 additional years as a Communications Specialist for NYPD 11 Metro.

In her younger years, Ruth was a professional model, carrying herself with elegance, confidence, and a beauty that radiated from the inside out. She loved to travel, swim, and roller skate, and she embraced every opportunity to experience life fully.

Above all, Ruth was an extraordinary mother. Even though She was not able to attend all of her son's basketball games, she displayed his trophies as symbols of her unwavering support. She had a heart that forgave, offered second chances freely, and loved deeply. A two-time cancer survivor, Ruth faced every challenge with courage and resilience that inspired everyone around her.

She is survived by her husband of 26 years, she was the love of his life, Ralph Johnson; her son, Ralph Johnson, Jr., and his wife, Andrea; grandchildren Arabia and Tyler; sisters Delores, Mozelle, and Henrietta; brother Charles; and a host of extended family and friends, including her best friend and cousin, Mattie.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred; brother Eddie; and sister Ethel.

Ruth was simply amazing-a woman whose legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service, Bunnell Florida, are in charge of the arrangements. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
