Ms. Ruth Wanjiku Karebu, 38, a resident of Millersville, Pennsylvania, went home peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday evening, January 28, 2026. Her sudden departure leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Ruth was born on March 20, 1987, in Kijabe, Kiambu County, Kenya. She was the firstborn daughter of the late Reverend Samuel Karebu Wanjau and Ruth Nyambura Karebu, founding members of the African Community Church of Lancaster. She was a beloved sister to Miriam Wacheke Karebu. Ruth's upbringing in Kenya instilled in her strong African values, cultural pride, and a firm Christian foundation that guided her throughout her life. In 1997, at the age of ten, she relocated to the United States and proudly maintained her heritage and continued to embrace her Kikuyu roots.

Her educational journey reflected determination and ambition. Ruth began her education at Elite Junior Academy in Nyahururu, Kenya, before continuing her schooling in Pennsylvania at Ann Letort Elementary School, Manor Middle School, and Penn Manor High School, graduating in 2005. Her academic success earned her a scholarship to Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. She later attended Millersville University and Lancaster County CTC – Health Sciences, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in 2010.

Nursing was more than a career for Ruth - it was her calling. She served her patients with compassion, professionalism, and dedication. Ruth was known for her gentle spirit and reliability at work in healthcare organizations in Texas, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. Most recently, she worked with Bayada Nurses and Aveanna Health Services, where she continued to exemplify her commitment to caring for others.

Faith was at the center of Ruth's life. Dedicated as an infant at AIC Church in Kijabe, Kenya, she later affirmed her faith through baptism at AIC Church Nyahururu in 1996, after completing catechism classes. Throughout her life, she remained devoted to her Christian walk and was an active member of ACCL Church of Lancaster, where she found spiritual strength and community.

Above all, Ruth was a devoted and loving mother. She cherished her three children - Eden Hope, Uhuru Samuel, and Empress Seraphina - who were the light of her life. She nurtured them with unconditional love, encouragement, and care. Ruth was also a proud and loving aunt to Charlotte Louise, Caleb Jeffrey, and Cayden Samuel. She shared a loving partnership with her fiancé, Mr. Antonio Boyd, with whom she built a life filled with warmth and treasured memories.

Ruth will be remembered for her radiant personality, infectious laughter, and her remarkable ability to bring comfort and joy to those around her. Her kindness, loyalty, and uplifting spirit touched countless lives. She had a gift for brightening any room and bringing people together, leaving lasting impressions that will be cherished forever.

A funeral service celebrating Ruth's life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 09:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Charles F. Snyder Home and Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. A procession will lead to Rohrerstown Mennonite Church Cemetery, 601 Rohrerstown Road, Lancaster, PA 17603, where the burial service will take place.

Family and friends will be received at 5 Applewood Lane, Millersville, PA 17551, on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 4 pm. Condolences may be shared to the family via: https://chat.whatsapp.com/GMvSHQtnVI8984bpqlFTL6 .

Though her earthly journey has ended, Ruth's legacy of love, faith, compassion, and resilience lives on in all who knew her. She will forever be remembered as a treasured daughter, sister, mother, partner, caregiver, and friend.

"The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD."

May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory forever be a blessing.
