Ruth Kunin, 101, of Stratford, CT, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
Ruth was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 2, 1921, to Toby (Matilda) and Simon Skigen. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1938 and went on to earn various certifications in the banking industry through her 36 years with Bank of America. Ruth worked for Bank of America, and at the time of retirement, had earned the title of Assistant Vice President of Mortgage Servicing. Ruth enjoyed reading, quilting, knitting, cooking and baking for her family, and was an avid Scrabble player. She was an award-winning quilter and handpiece, as well as hand-quilting most of her quilts.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Barbara Dierolf, of Stratford, CT, her son Richard (Jacqueline) Kunin of Valley Forge, PA, her granddaughter, Amy Bien, grandson Christopher (Dara) Bien, and great-grandson, Aiden Bien, all of Shelton, CT. Ruth was predeceased by, Leonard, her beloved husband of nearly 72 years. She was also predeceased by grandson, Stefan Bien, son-in-law, Dr. Breck Dierolf, and siblings Stanley Skigen, Arlene Green, and Melvin Skigen.
A celebration of Ruth's life will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT; receiving will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by services at 11:00 a.m., and burial at Aspetuck Cemetery in Easton, CT.
