Ruth Lynah Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors - Hodgson Chapel on Apr. 2, 2024.
Ruth Cain Lynah of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024.
Ruth, affectionately known as "Peggy," was born on June 20,1927 to Ruth Artley Cain and Thomas Ravenel Cain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Savage Lynah, and her eldest son, James Lynah.
She is survived by her children; Thomas Ravenel Lynah (MaryAnne), Katherine Lynah Holliday, Savage Heyward Lynah Jr.(Lori), and Ruthie Lynah Whitlow(Jeff); daughter-in-law, Cindy Ellis Lynah (James); as well as fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members.
Peggy was a 1945 graduate of Pape School and attended Sweet Briar College. Peggy was the resilient matriarch of the Lynah family, a breast cancer survivor whose remarkable strength and love served as the cornerstone of our family. Her unwavering courage and faith provided us with the fortitude to weather life's storms together. Peggy was known for her boldness, always speaking the truth with a fearless spirit.
In addition to her strength, Peggy had a zest for life. An avid golfer, she once achieved the remarkable feat of hitting a hole in one. Whether fishing offshore for the big catch or enjoying the tranquility of Little Tybee's surf, she embraced life's adventures. Peggy cherished moments spent playing bridge with friends and engaging in card games with her grandchildren. She found solace in the beauty of her yard, enjoying the simple pleasures of reading, observing the flowers, and listening to the birds. A believer in life's perfect moments as "God activity," Peggy's faith remained a guiding force throughout her life.
A graveside service will be held Monday, April 8, 2024 at 11:00am in Bonaventure Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation or Hospice Savannah in honor of Ruth Lynah.
