She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Free Lutheran Church, rural McIntosh and attended school in McIntosh, graduating from Mac-Winger High School with the Class of 1963.
On December 25, 1965 (her mother’s birthday) she was united in marriage to Albert D Mandt, Jr. at her brother and sister-in-law’s home in rural McIntosh by Pastor Joel Peterson. The family expanded in 1970 with the birth of Kerry John and again in 1979 with the birth of Kevin Michael. Ruth was involved in the ELCW at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and served as president of the VFW Auxiliary. In 1985, Ruth began employment at the East Polk Soil and Water Conservation Office in McIntosh as a secretary, retiring from that position in 2014.
