Ruth Mapes Obituary
Ruth Ellen Mapes died at home surrounded by her loving family just three days shy of her 100th birthday.
She was the beloved wife of the late Frank for 36 years. Also the dear mother of Edward L., Gordon F. (Susan), Shirley D. Mapes & cherished grandmother of Frank, Joseph, Charles, Nicole, Michelle and Edward. Also survived by her sister, Annette Peterson (the late Frederick).
Besides her husband, Ruth is preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Berg (the late Joyce) & Frederick Berg (the late Marge).
Not to be forgotten, she will also be sorely missed by her faithful canine companion, Champ.
The family will receive friends Friday (October 20, 2023) from 4-8PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons-Price Chapel, 3725 Rochester Rd. (between Big Beaver & Wattles).
A Funeral service to honor her life will be held Saturday (October 21, 2023) 11AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2784 Square Lake Rd., Troy (W/Dequindre). An hour of visitation at church precedes the service.

My aunt Ruth is the closest thing I had to a loving mother. She was so intelligent and kind.
She gave great sage advice, cared for all, and had a great sense of humor.
I loved her wholly. I will love her forever. I am forever grateful for the love and kindness she has always shown me and my family.
She was one in a billion. I am a better person because of her.
I miss her. I hope I am good enough to be with her on the other side.

Missy....Thinking of you and your family in this time of sorrow! I have many fond memories of visits with Ruth when she would visit her family in Dallas! She had a contagious laugh and a great sense of humor! There was never a holiday that past that she didn´t make me a really special T-shirt or sweat shirt ! She was very good seamstress and very creative!!
When she was in her late 80´s and early 90´s We had fun trying to play a word game on the computer, too! She would do better than I could!! She was a very special lady!!
