Ronald Warren "Buddy" Evans, age 89, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and kindness. Born on August 23, 1936 in Detroit, Ron attended Oak Park High School and the University of Detroit. After college he served in the U.S. Army for several years, earning the Good Conduct Medal. Following the Army, Ron accepted a position with General Motors working in materials management, where he earned a reputation for being a hardworking and dedicated employee, and retired almost 30 years later.
Ron met the love of his life, Patricia, at a "Singles Mingle" dance and they married in January 1966. Together they moved to Troy and built a family raising their three children. Over the years they were blessed with a total of six grandchildren whom he cherished. Ron and Pat were active members of their neighborhood, enjoying a long standing card club and bowling leagues with friends.
Ron loved nature and being outdoors, and some of his favorite times were spent vacationing in northern Michigan. Family vacations were filled with fishing on the lakes and exploring new places together. Ron spent much of his early retirement with Pat at the family's vacation home in Prudenville, where he enjoyed quiet fishing time and relaxing on the lake. After his retirement, he decided to take up golf, and spent many warm days working on his game with friends and family. Ron was also a fan of professional hockey and could often be found in front of the tv cheering on the Detroit Red Wings. He especially delighted in attending a Wings game with his son Paul.
Ron is survived by his children, Paul (Bridget) Evans, Peggy Evans and Kathy (Chris) Oliver; grandchildren, Stephen, Marie, Evan, Anna, Megan, and Alissa. Ron is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia, his sister Melissa Calcaterra, and his parents, Warren and Anna Evans.
Ron's life was marked by supportive and quiet strength, and his passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his profound kindness, and the values he lived by.
We look forward to honoring Ron together and sharing the memories that will live on in our hearts.
