Ruth Marshall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beyers Funeral Home & Crematory - Leesburg on Feb. 7, 2026.
Ruth Lucille Rosenquist Marshall, 97, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Well Lived:

Known as Lucille to friends and family, she was born in Oak Park, Illinois, but grew up in Chaffee, Missouri. Lucille had many wonderful memories from her time in Chaffee. She made life-long friends, attended church, performed in plays, went to the movies and hung out at Slaughter's ~ the local soda shop. She was a cheerleader in 11th and 12th grade and in 1944, was crowned Homecoming Queen. The New Year's Eve 1945 watch night service was the first time Ralph saw Lucille (he was 23 and she was 17). Just home from the war, he told his parents, "I'm going to have to get to know her." On February 11, 1946, Lucille and the other cheerleaders went to Slaughter's after the basketball game. While she was sitting in the booth, Ralph walked up, leaned against the booth and said, "I'm going to tell you something right now. They didn't lose that game because of you." They were married 16 months later on June 22, 1947. After marriage, Lucille and Ralph lived in several different states before settling in Homestead, FL, from 1956 until 1994 and then moving to Leesburg, FL, in 1994. The Lord blessed them with four children: Linda, David, Steve and Michael.

Well Done:

Lucille lived a Proverbs 31 life. While in Homestead, she was faithful to the Lord, serving for many years and in many roles at First Baptist Church of Homestead. She served in the nursery, bus ministry, sang in the choir, taught the ladies Sunday School class, opened her home for youth outings, and was the church secretary. When she and Ralph moved to Leesburg, they joined First Baptist Leesburg and she once again became involved in the church services and in later years, volunteering at the Thrift Store. Even in "her quiet years" (as she called them), she spent much time with the Lord, in prayer, in His word and writing scripture on index cards for memorization. She enjoyed sharing sermons and songs that touched her heart. She has been and will be remembered as a kind and faithful Christian by so many whose lives she touched throughout her time in Homestead and in Leesburg and who still consider her a dear friend.

Well Loved:

Lucille is survived by daughter, Linda (Richard) Fuchs and son, Michael (Leigh Anne) Marshall, grandsons Jacob Fuchs, Joshua (Krista) Fuchs, Michael Marshall, granddaughter, Linea Marshall and 5 great-grandchildren. When Lucille went home to be with the Lord, she had many family and friends ready to welcome her to Heaven: namely her husband of 61 years, Ralph, and two sons, Steve and David; parents, Carl and Ruth Margret Rosenquist; brothers, Robert and Johnny Rosenquist; and countless other family and friends who were excited to be with her again and to share the glories of Heaven with her.

Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, February 8th, from 1pm – 3pm at Beyer's Funeral Home Chapel in Leesburg, FL. Graveside service will be Monday, February 9th, at 11:30am at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
