Ruth Alfrieda Mittelstadt

RUTH ALFRIEDA MITTELSTADT, age 93 of Waseca, died on the evening of Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Ruth was born the youngest in her family on May 25, 1931, in Waseca County to parents August Herman and Clara (Helms) Mittelstadt. She attended District #22 country school before graduating from Waseca High School in 1949. She was a teacher in local country schools before embarking on a 52-year career as a teacher in New Ulm, finally retiring in 2002. Ruth was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Otisco where she loved her involvement with the annual ice cream social and polka fest. She was a past member of the VFW Auxiliary and Turner Ladies' Society. She enjoyed bowling and quilting, but one of her greatest gifts to the world was gathering and donating household items to those in need. Her generosity knew no bounds.

Ruth is survived by numerous cousins and their families, and a great number of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Luverne, and a sister Adeline.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Ashley Kuhlman and Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Otisco.
