Ruth Glover Murphy
November 21, 1942 – February 7, 2026

Ruth Glover Murphy, 83, passed away February 7, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on November 21, 1942, in Wilson County to the late Curtis Willard Glover and Dorothy Boykin Glover.

Ruth was a sociable woman who truly never met a stranger. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting Bojangles in Knightdale, where she would order her beloved Cheddar Bo Biscuits and spend time chatting with both staff and customers. She had a gentle and kind spirit, was never known to be angry, and always carried herself with grace. Ruth valued her independence and never wanted to be a burden to anyone, remaining strong and self-sufficient even in her later years.

She was a woman of deep faith who loved the Lord with all her heart. She formed many strong, lasting friendships and cherished time spent with those she loved.

Above all else, Ruth adored her grandchildren. She loved them more than anything and was immensely proud of all their accomplishments. She also enjoyed shopping at Hamrick's and had a fondness for picking out the perfect jewelry and outfit to complement any occasion.

Ruth is survived by her son, Sherwin Murphy, Jr. (Dana); daughter, Angie Brantley (Wiley); brothers, Willard "Doodle" Glover and Ronald Glover (Rose); sister-in-law, Ruby Glover; and grandchildren, Sydney Brantley, Brennan Murphy, Cate Murphy, and Olivia Brantley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sherwin Craig Murphy, and her brothers, Harold Glover, Jerry Glover, and Curtis "Bill" Glover.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third Street, Wendell, NC 27591. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 2:00 pm, at Green Pines Baptist Church, 1498 Hodge Rd, Knightdale, NC 27545.
