Ruth Eileen Nicewarner, 79, of Charles Town, WV passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at her residence.
Born July 28, 1944 in Charles Town, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. Nicewarner and Mary Ellen Slusher Nicewarner.
Ruth was a member of Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town.
Ruth was a graduate of Charles Town High School, Class of 1962. She earned her degree at Shepherd College and went on to work at the Martinsburg Medical Center, where she retired as Assistant Comptroller with over 25 years of service. She the joined her husband, George, in his restaurant venture, The Iron Rail Inn, which they ran for 17 years. For the next 12 years she went on to work with her nephew, Mack at Boss's II in Charles Town. Ruth was very involved in Greyhound Rescue, the Animal Rescue of Jefferson County and active with her late husband in the Lions Club.
She is survived by two sisters, Helen Funderburk and Frances Hooe and husband, Pete, one brother, William Nicewarner and wife, Delores, two nephews, Mack "Boss" Hooe and Max Ray Funderburk, niece and caretaker, Marianne Lee Smith and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Quinn in 2023 and three sisters, Margaret, Louise, Ruby and infant brother, Harry.
Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Robert Quinn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare of Jefferson County.
