Susan Bonita Ballard

Susan Bonita Ballard, 71, of Ranson, WV, passed away on November 30, 2025, at home.

Born on April 12, 1954, in Beaufort, SC, she was the daughter of the late Charles William Smith and Susan Isabelle Gocke. She was of the Christian Faith.

Susan was a graduate of Annapolis High School, class of 1971. She loved spending time with her grandson, Miles. She was also an award-winning cake decorator, loved puzzles and sudoku. In her earlier years, she enjoyed riding motorcycles and skydiving.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Barnhart and husband, Brad of Ranson, WV; her son, David Ottinger and wife, Kate Suuberg of Maryland; stepchildren, Brian Ballard, Tracy Stottlemyer, Kent Ballard, Jay Ballard; her grandson, Miles; eleven step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Meeks; and one brother, Robert Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Herbert Ballard in 2008; one step-granddaughter, Sara Ballard; and one brother "Boot" Smith.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 11: 00 A.M., at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV.

A reception will follow the memorial at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 401 Central Avenue, Brunswick, MD 21716.
