Ruth Helms O'Kelly

Mrs. Ruth Helms O'Kelly, 90, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013. She was born in Union County, NC on August 18, 1923 daughter of the late Octavius " Dock" and Lillie Boone Helms. Mrs. O'Kelly was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Luther Anderson O'Kelly. Mrs. O'Kelly was a retired employee of the Union County School system, in food service, a graduate of Benton Heights High School, a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 2:30 PM until 3:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC. A graveside funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mrs. O'Kelly is survived by her son, Robert "Bob" O'Kelly and wife Brenda of Monroe, daughter, Debbie Gladden and husband Carl of Fredericksburg, VA, brother, Charles Wilson Helms of High Point, grandchildren, Robin Ross, Tammy Mosley, Christy Hough, Wendy Bunch, Jason Gladden and Dr. Paul Gladden and 12 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Hillcrest Rest Home for their loving care of their mother.
