Ruth Louise Ory, 94, passed away peacefully, November 2, 2025 at her home.
Born July 20, 1931 in Miller City, IL, she was the daughter of Robert Lindig and Addie Ruth (Edson) Bouchet.
On September 23, 1950 in Wood River, she married Flint Joseph Ory and through 66 years of marriage, created and led a wonderful family. Flint died May 5, 2016.
Surviving her are two sons, Bob Ory & wife Barb of Ft. Smith, Ark, Steve Ory & wife Lisa of Edwardsville, and a daughter, Kathleen Tousey of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by three children, daughters Mary Christine, Diane Ory, and a son, Jeffrey Ory who is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Marine.
She was a proud grandmother to 6 grandchildren, Kathleen Hanna & husband Griffin of Ft. Smith, Anthony Meoli & wife Cheryl of St. Louis, Brooke Ory of Edwardsville, Wynter Farmer & husband Brian of Edwardsville, Flint N. Ory & wife Th eresa of Cumming, GA, Brett Ory & wife Meranda of High Ridge, MO. She was also blessed with 12 great grandchildren, Joseph Meoli, Sloan Hanna, Harper Hanna, and Wynn Hanna, Grace Ory, Arrington Farmer, Calder Farmer, Karpenter Farmer, Brennen Ory, Beckett Ory, Rousseau Ory, and Genevieve Ory.
Early in life, Ruth had worked several years as a beautician and had been a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Later, she became the matriarch and guiding light of this large family, leading with grace, her devout faith, and a love of bringing everyone together through food.
Her visitation will be from 9 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am, Monday, November 10 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. Fr. Jeff Goeckner will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to: St. Boniface Catholic Church, Holy Angels Parish Church, Fr. McGivney High School, The Wounded Warriors Project or Cross Catholic Charities.
