Ruth Elaine Otworth, 87, of Moorefield, WV, died on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Hospice of the Panhandle, Kearneysville, WV.

Ruth was born on January 9, 1938, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Roy E. Higgs, Sr. and Erma Meseke Higgs. Ruth was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church in Winchester and was a former member of the Faith Mission Church in Wardensville, WV. She enjoyed listening to hymns, shopping, latch hooking, and most of all being with her family.

Ruth married Paul V. Otworth, Sr. on July 5, 1958, in Baltimore, MD. Paul died on September 6, 2007.

She is survived by a son: Paul V. Otworth, Jr. (Tonya) of Wardensville, WV; three daughters: Sandra Clemmons (Brad) of Calico, VA; Deborah Wymer of MN; and Karen Goldsmith of Bunker Hill, WV; seven grandchildren: Brad Clemmons, Heather Konovalov (Nick), Jamie (Kenny) & Brooks; Jennifer Hartlove (Earl), Jeffrey Goldsmith, Christopher; Noah and Lily; and seven great-grandchildren: Alivia, Soij Kaminski, Nicholas Konovalov, Cody Hartlove, Madalyn, Jaxon, & Zachary; great-great granddaughter: Lakelyn Dawn Roberts;

She is preceded in death by three brothers: Roy Higgs, Jerry, and Ben Sammons; a sister: Melvina Matthews; and a great-granddaughter: Sierra Sager.

A funeral service will be held at Loy-Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Jon Leininger. Interment will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Ruth to Greenwood Baptist Church, 779 Greenwood Rd, Winchester, VA 22602 or Hospice of the Panhandle 330 Hospice Ln, Kearneysville, WV 25430
