RUTH PATTEN Obituary

PATTEN, Ruth Ruth Alice (Bagley) Patten, resident of Norwood, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025. She was 85 years old. Ruth was born in Norwood on April 9, 1940, the daughter of Edmund S. Bagley and Winifred M. (Butler) Bagley. Ruth graduated from Norwood High School in the class of 1958 and went on to work as a receptionist for Hollingsworth & Vose Co., a manufacturing company located in Walpole. She married her loving husband, Bernard J. Patten, and they went on to have two children. Ruth loved working with her hands, and would commonly be seen knitting or crocheting. Ruth also enjoying walking in her spare time. Ruth cared for her community, she was a past president of the Women's Community Committee, helped at the WCC Thrift Shop, and was an active member at her church. Ruth had close ties with First Congregational Church in Norwood, she sang in the choir, helped with the abundant table, and played the handbells. Ruth is survived by her husband, Bernard J. Patten of Norwood; her daughter, Barbara A. Patten of North Attleboro; her son, David J. Patten of Norwood; her sister, Carole M. Sipple of Maryland; and her sister-in-law, Kathy, and her husband Frank Mitchell of New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her brother, the late James S. Bagley. Following Ruth's wishes, there will be No Funeral Service. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
