Ruth Anna Roiko

Ruth Anna Roiko, age 74 of St. Michael, MN passed away on November 20, 2025. She was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, on March 14, 1951, to Roger and Anna (Lantto) Josephson.

Ruth grew up in Cokato and graduated from Cokato High School with the Class of 1969. She married Ralph Edward Roiko on December 15, 1973. They had their only daughter in 1984. Their time together, though far too short, was filled with the kind of love that keeps growing long after someone is gone. He preceded her in death in 1987.

She used her creativity and artistic skills as a cake decorator Wuollet Bakery for many years. She then worked as a layout artist at LLC, retiring in 2017. She was an active member of the Rockford Laestadian church, and spent many hours helping in the book store, cleaning or in the kitchen.

She loved the simple things like gardening, looking at flowers, relaxing by the lake and being outdoors. She was a wonderful artist and enjoyed painting and drawing. She was always up for a conversation with family, friends, or pretty much anyone who crossed her path. Ruth effortlessly turned strangers into friends. She was strong and determined and carried a positive outlook that was contagious. She was always smiling and could get a laugh from anyone.

Ruth was dearly loved. She was the best mom, always involved, encouraging, supporting and caring. Her bond with her grandsons was truly remarkable and her greatest joy. She was a wonderful sister, aunt, godparent, and friend. Her gentle soul, quick wit, and open-hearted nature will be missed and warmly remembered.

Preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, Roger and Anna Josephson; sister, Louisa Higley; and son-in-law, Karl Newsome, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Susanna Newsome; grandchildren, Damien and Pierce Newsome; brothers, Roger Josephson, John (Katie) Josephson, David (Shirley) Josephson, William (Chris) Josephson, and James Josephson; sisters, Rachel (Pete) McCann and Carol (Brian) Constenius; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 3:00 PM with visitation beginning one hour prior at the Rockford Laestadian Church, 741 Ibarra Avenue NE, Buffalo, MN.
