Ruth Schenker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brighton Memorial Chapel, Inc. on Apr. 22, 2025.
Ruth Schenker
Brighton, NY – Ruth Schenker, formerly of Boca Raton, FL, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025 at age 100. She is predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Norman Schenker; brother, Emanuel Finkel; and sister, Esther Ditzion. Ruth is survived by her son, Howard Schenker M.D. (Arlene); grandchildren, Andrew Schenker (Melynda Fuller) and Emily Schenker.
Ruth worked for the Air Force during WWII, followed by Warner Brothers, as well as several other business concerns. In her retirement, she served as president of her local Hadassah chapter where she was honored as a Woman of Valor. In her later years at the Summit at Brighton, she was an avid participant in many activities, including the Yiddish, Book, and Poetry Clubs. She had a full life, but the most important thing to her was family.
A private Graveside Service will take place in Boynton Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to the Jewish Home Foundation, Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. or Hadassah in Ruth's memory. The family will be sitting Shiva at Schenker Home, 35 Old Mill Rd, Rochester, NY 14618, on Sunday, April 27th at 1PM – 1 3PM.

I met Ruth at Melynda and Andrew's wedding and we instantly clicked. Although I never met with her in person after that we communicated through the mail, sharing our love of reading and books. The world is diminished with her passing and I will miss her.
