Otylia Schenker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edder Funeral Home, Inc. - Girard on Jun. 13, 2025.
Otylia "Lee" L. Schenker, 77, of Fairview, passed away Tuesday June 10, 2025, at her home.
She was born on June 12th, 1947, a daughter to the late Jospeh and Otylia (Malinowski) Rutkowski.
Lee's last employment was at Girard Middle School, where she served as a cafeteria monitor. She thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by adolescents and found great joy in their energy and presence. She had a wide range of interests, but what brought her the most happiness was spending time with her grandchildren and friends.
Lee had a deep and abiding faith, spending time each day immersed in the word of the Lord. She dedicated her time and energy to charitable causes, including volunteering at St. Joseph Orphanage. She also assisted a local veterinary clinic by helping bring animals to visit nursing home residents, bringing comfort and companionship to many. Lee remained active and engaged in her community. She served as the Resident Council Secretary at her housing complex and volunteered for various projects there. She worked as a stagehand at the local theater and participated in a radio program where she read for the blind.
A nature lover at heart, Lee often took walks at Presque Isle or hiked through the woods, always with a camera in hand to capture the beauty she saw. In her younger years, she loved golfing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Samantha A. (Bechtold) Rutkowski.
She will be greatly missed by her family which includes her grandchildren, Jesse Bechtold (Molly), and Leanne Bechtold (Tim Brandt); her sister, Cecile Bojarski; and nieces, Angela Purcell and Sheila Beggs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude's Childrens' Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Friends may call on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 3:00pm to the time of service at 6:00pm. at the Edder Family Funeral Home, LLC, 309 Main St. E, Girard, PA 16417.
