Ruth Jarrard Shepard, 88, of Boston, GA, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 in her home, surrounded by her family.
A Graveside Service will be held at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ryan West officiating.
Ruth was born on June 10, 1935 in Barwick, GA to the late Wilburn H. Jarrard and Nellie Redfearn Jarrard. She passed away in the same home she was born in, which was very important to her. She graduated from Barwick High School. She then attended Andrew College where she was very active in their softball team where she had the opportunity to play in Cuba. She also attended VSU and graduated with her certification in Education as a Teacher. She loved to travel and appreciated the beauty of our country and many others. She married her first husband David Prince, who passed away during their first 2 years of marriage. She later, married Ivey M. Shepard on June 4, 1960, who preceded her in death in 2005. She spent 31 years working as a Teacher in Japan, Arkansas, and England and also for the Thomas County Board of Education. She was very active in Barwick Baptist Church and many of their ministries for over 4 decades.
Survivors include; her children, Theresa Fallin of Thomasville, Linda Gregory (Clark) of Jefferson, GA, Ronald A. Shepard (Kimberly) of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren, John Earl Fallin, Kelsey Dierdorff, J. Cole Gregory, Seth Gregory, Kayla Shepard, and Brooke Shepard, great-grandchildren, Jody Halen Fallin, Logan Cade Fallin, Hudson Dierdorff, Garrett Dierdorff, Mark Ivey Gregory, and Ruth Elena Gregory. In addition to her two husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by her 3 brothers & 6 sisters.
