Ruth A. Stadler

nee Amerman. Ruth Stadler died September 5, 2022, with family at her side. Ruth was born in 1925 to John and Florence Amerman of Bloomfield, NJ. She also resided in Newark, NJ, New Providence, NJ, Hubbard, OH, Hazel Crest, IL, and then Rocky River OH for over 50 years. She graduated from Douglass College (now part of Rutgers). In January 1949, Ruth married Eugene Stadler and they had three children. Ruth belonged to book clubs in Chicago and Rocky River. She worked at Rocky River Unitarian Church and belonged to Rocky River United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Ruth held several positions for the League of Women Voters, including Rocky River and Cuyahoga County president. She tutored at an inner-city school in Cleveland and delivered Meals on Wheels in Fairview Park. Beginning in the 1960s, Ruth advocated for equal opportunities and civil rights for all races. In 1997, the Cleveland Area Board of Realtors honored her with the J. Howard Battle Equal Opportunity in Housing Award. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband Gene, and daughter Nancy. She is survived by sons, Stephen (Barbara) of Oklahoma, and Peter of Rocky River; son-in-law James Saari (Vera Evans) of Olmsted Township; grandsons John (Audrey) Stadler of Oklahoma, David (Colleen) Saari, and Scott Saari, both of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; two great-grandsons Jacob and Ansel of Oklahoma; brother John (Jerry) Amerman of California; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
