Obituary of Ruth Ann (Sweet) Strassberger
Mrs. Ruth Ann (Sweet) Strassberger, 90, of Lake Worth, FL, formerly of Remsen, NY, went home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2024, at Park of the Palms Assisted Living in Keystone Heights, Fl, with her son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Dee by her side.
Ruth was born in Chadwicks, NY on October 13, 1933, the daughter of Edwin and Anna (O'Dowd) Sweet. She was raised and educated in Chadwicks and earned her teaching degree from Oneonta College. On June 23, 1956, Ruth was united in marriage with William J. Strassberger, a loving and devoted union of 67 years, until Bill's recent passing. For many years, Ruthie taught at Harts Hill Elementary school, a career she dearly loved. After retirement, Ruthie and Bill spent their last 35 years between their homes in Lake Worth, FL and Remsen, NY. Ruth enjoyed summers at Kayuta Lake and winters in Lake Worth. She enjoyed golfing, long walks, and taking cruises with Bill. Ruthie especially loved spending time with Billy, Dee and her grandchildren. She and Bill also enjoyed many decades of long special friendships with the Bathricks, Caspers and Hoveys.
Mrs. Strassberger is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Dee Strassberger of Keystone, FL; cherished grandchildren, Katie Sue Ezell and her husband Brandon, Holly Bailey and her husband Zack and Will Strassberger all of Jacksonville, FL; two adored great grandchildren, Drew and Hudson Bailey; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert P. and Marie Strassberger of Lake Worth, FL; and two nieces, Nancy Thompson and Linda Cate both of Florida. She was predeceased by son Paul Strassberger; daughter, Susan Strassberger; and six siblings, Roger Sweet, Charlie Sweet, Irene Sweet Lockwood, Eddie Sweet, Mary Alice Sweet Gray and Tom Sweet.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a graveside service on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 70 Wood Rd., Whitesboro.
