Ruth Taylor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boylan Funeral Home, Inc. - Zelienople East on Mar. 18, 2022.
Ruth Sutton Taylor, age 93, of Zelienople, formerly of Dublin, PA, passed away into eternal life on Monday, March 14 2022, while under the care of Passavant Retirement Community.
Born February 27, 1929 in Evans City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alva McKinley Sutton and Helen Jane (Davison) Sutton.
As a child her spiritual life began at First Baptist Church in Evans City. After graduating from Bryan College with a B.A. in English she enjoyed missionary work in Kentucky. Ruth married Thomas V. Taylor on September 5, 1954 and they moved to the Philadelphia area for Tom to attend seminary. They became active in fellowship at Grace Gospel Chapel in Plumsteadville for many years. She was involved in a variety of ministries including a long running women's coffee hour, Sunday school teacher, and camp counselor. She also traveled extensively with her husband in support of his ministry. A gifted pianist, she used this talent to the glory of God. She also enjoyed sewing and tatting lace. She was an avid game player and particularly enjoyed beating her children at cards until the last few weeks of her life. Above all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Jenny L. Perschke (Thomas), Douglas Alva Taylor, Timothy Vernon Taylor (Kimberly Sullivan Taylor), and Tammy Sue Bullis (James); 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and her brother, Bruce Sutton.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas V. Taylor, who passed away on January 17, 2015; her daughter, Lois Jane Farrell, who passed away in 2006; her grandson, Stephen; her siblings, Jane Lieb and Thomas Sutton; and her daughter-in-law, Carol Lynn Hembury Taylor.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 771 Mercer Rd., Butler, PA 16001. The service will be livestreamed on the Hillcrest Baptist Church Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Whosoever Gospel Mission, P. O. Box 48308, Philadelphia, PA 19144.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, Inc., 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063.

We are truly thankful for the blessing that was our friendship with Mr. Tom and Mrs. Ruth. Besides their example of Christian service, each loved our children. Mr. Tom gave some of his old history magazines to my son when he was a young boy, and Mrs. Ruth exchanged phone calls with Cobb and Marion until this past fall. From all the years that we enjoyed their ministry at Bible conferences, special meetings, and being guests in the home of our parents, we have too many fond memories to recount, but we wish to extend to the family our deepest condolences and thanks for sharing this wonderful couple with us. We will miss Mrs. Ruth and her fun phone calls but know we will see her again. Until then, her memory will remain a significant joy in each of our lives.

With deep love,
David, Tammy, Cobb, and Marion Hollingsworth

Aunt Ruth, my mother's sister, has always been a part of my memories. From the time I told her that I was 4 and in a minute I'd be 5. I have many letters from her to my mother that will now be treasured even more. May you find comfort in each of the memories you have of her. I enjoyed her Bible studies at Wittenburg and her piano playing - she played for Mom's memorial service at New Haven Court. We will miss the other half of "Agnes".

Ruth was a cherished friend to our family and a wonderful example of loyalty to her husband, her family, friends and above all to Jesus her Saviour and Lord. From our first meeting at Biblical Seminary in 1977, she had a welcoming presence and great sense of humor. By the grace of God she was who she was, an authentic follower of Jesus. We will miss our phone conversations and times of prayer. May God comfort all of her family and friends. May all of us who follow behind her, be found faithful.
