Ruth Rosalind "Rosie" Cahoe Thompson, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and postmaster, passed peacefully at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, Kentucky on May 25, 2025, at the age of 88.

Rosie was born in New Haven, Ky. on July 24, 1936. She married Ray Thompson in St. Catherine's Church, where she was a lifelong parishioner, on February 12 th, 1955. Rosie and Ray were married for 67 years.

Rosie got her start in the New Hope post office in 1969 and was promoted to Postmaster of New Hope in 1983 before eventually retiring in 1997.

Their home became the hub for gatherings of all kinds and Rosie was the ultimate host.

There was hardly a day that someone didn't stop by to say hello and her home was open to everyone.

Rosie was full of life and the matriarch of the family. She treasured her friendships and the many Saturday night card games. What excited Rosie the most was her large family. She has 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. All the grandchildren and great-grandchildren felt her unconditional love.

Rosie was preceded in death by; her husband; Harold Ray Thompson, her son; William Louis Thompson, her grandson; Joe Eddie Ball, her son-in-law David Mudd, her parents; Susan Ada Smith and John Harlan Cahoe, her siblings; William Harland Cahoe (Mary Ann), Elizabeth Christine Blandford (CA), Mary Edith Reiter (Georgie), James Louis (Shorty) Cahoe, and her sister-n-law Barbara Wayne Cahoe.

Rosie is survived by her children; Pamela Ann Ball (Larry), John Ray Thompson (Diane), Albert Eugene Thompson (Etta), Mary Thompson Henry (Kent), and Gina Marie Mudd, and her siblings; Edwin Eugene Cahoe (Mary Catherine), Albert Chandler "Happy" Cahoe (Rose Ann), and Margaret Mary Boone (Joe).

Visitation will be held at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 413 N. Main Street, New Haven, Ky. 40051 on Thursday, May 29 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will continue Friday May 30 from 10:00 to 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the Church.

The family request donations to be made to St. Catherine Catholic Church, in lieu of flowers.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family. Rosie was one special lady. Her smile would brighten your heart. She was always happy to see you. She served as an honorable Postmaster and was respected in her community. Everyone loved her Rosie personality. She also had amazing children. Love them all.

I remember all the delicious dishes Rosie sent to our house especially cherry cobbler when Mom came home from the hospital with new baby. She was certainly a great neighbor . She acted like a Mom to all of us. Most sadly missed. Sharon Clark Thomas
