Ruth Irene Hopkins, a beloved figure in her community and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, in Dallas, Georgia. Born on May 1, 1943, in Augusta, Georgia, Ruth, known affectionately by those close to her as “Tomi Ruth” lived a life filled with love, music, dancing and dedication to those around her.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, Jerry Hopkins, and a proud mother to her children, Angela Morrison of Marietta, Georgia; Trey Connell of Cumming, Georgia; and Tony Connell of Salt Lake City, Utah. Ruth also embraced her role as a stepmother to Kathy Mikeal and Rodney Hopkins, weaving a rich tapestry of family that included being “MeMa” to her 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought joy and laughter into her life.
Ruth's spirit of giving was evident in her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels in Sebastian, Florida, where she dedicated her time to serving those in need. Her connection to the Sabastian Moose Lodge exemplified her commitment to community and friendship, where she made lasting bonds with many.
In addition to her many accomplishments, Ruth was known for her love of music, which echoed throughout her life and home. Friends and family will remember her not only for her nurturing heart but also for her vibrant personality that touched the lives of everyone she met.
