Ruth’s role as mother, “Nana” (her fond and perhaps most popular moniker assigned to her by her grandchildren and great grandchildren), godmother and friend to many blossomed as she and Bernie shared 68 years of marriage and the joy of their first great grandchild together before his passing on November 21, 2020.Ruth’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were a gift that brought her immense happiness and joy as she adored and doted on each one. Ruth was a warm and welcoming soul who loved entertaining and hosting gatherings for family and friends. Whether baking Slovak delicacies, dancing a waltz or polka, or playing cards, she always brought her infectious charm to the room. While residing at Story Point in her later years, Ruth’s charisma earned her the title of “ambassador” helping newcomers feel at home with her trademark kindness.
Her love for lively discussions, including spirited debates on politics, revealed her sharp wit and passion for meaningful conversations, even to the end. Ruth spent her final two and a half years of life living with her daughter Lori and son-in-law Jeff Blind, where she was surrounded by unwavering love and care by her whole family. Ruth’s bright spirit and love for life will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud Nana, a beloved great grandmother, and a dear friend to many.
