Ruth Shreeve Uhrig

Ruth Shreeve Uhrig, 106, died in Rancho Mirage, CA on February 18, 2026. She was born Ruth Virginia Shreeve on January 10, 1920, in a large farmhouse on her parents' farm in Carroll County. She was the daughter of Wilbur and Virginia Armacost Shreeve. After high school in Reisterstown, Ruth spent four years at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.

She met her future husband, Philip Uhrig, in the summer of 1938. They married in June of 1941. They were the proud parents of Jeffrey and Jane, both deceased. She was the proud grandmother of John and Sarah Connor.

After the war, her husband began a long career at Western Maryland, now McDaniel College in Westminster. They made many friends among college staff, faculty and students. Ruth used her artistic abilities in everything, from home decor to painting in watercolor and acrylics. Philip died in April 2010.

Ruth was active at Church of the Ascension in Westminster and continued her activities at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in California, as long as she was able.

A service will be held on April 1, 2026 at 11:30 am at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert, CA.
